In my land of utopia there are no jails, borders, or countries. Human beings are recognized as a part of the larger ecosystem of the globe; making each person a global citizen. This does not erase the culture, history, and unique qualities of each group of humans, but instead expands the understanding of each.
Education begins at home, is a human right, and along with everything else in the world, free. With tools and information provided to the parents during pregnancy the family can deepen their journey of understanding about the land they inhabit, the stewards who started the journey before them, and the history behind how they came to inhabit this specific spot on the globe. With these supports families continue to learn together about the food, clothing, skills, language and trade as it’s evolved before and beyond colonization to the current state. Each area that is inhabited by humans is notably different depending on the aforementioned factors and their social structures reflect those differences.
Global areas are considered endangered by the prior generations and therefore land conservation is central to all governing bodies. Each governing body is comprised of members from the local (50 mile radius) communities. Each community decides their representatives based on altruism, honesty, and integrity. The top representatives from each community meet monthly through the district (300 mile radius), quarterly the region (800 mile radius) and yearly through the body (beyond 1,000 miles). These meetings are to ensure trade and responsibility agreements are upheld, check in with each community about needs and solutions, and adjust the evolving agreements from prior meetings.
Trade is now the only form of commerce and is controlled by the laborers creating the product. Trade is limited to what can be sustainably produced in any given area. Metals, salt, different herbs/plants, animal products/animal by-products, and all things crafted are examples of items available for trade. Exploitation of any kind is strictly forbidden globally. All technological advances that benefit humanity are shared freely. Each area of skill is chosen and apprenticeships are offered freely to any interested.
